evening talk series 3.0: Demystifying Menopause
Tuesday 21 October 2025
Manly42 hosted its third Evening Talk, Demystifying Menopause, featuring Dr Anjali Didi, GP and lecturer at the University of Sydney, and Ava Loiskandl, Women’s Health Physiotherapist. The event opened with a humorous Fleabag monologue by Liz Jewell before diving into an open discussion on perimenopause and menopause.
Dr Didi explained the transition phases, common symptoms, and treatment options such as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), stressing individualised care and regular GP monitoring. Ava described how declining oestrogen affects muscles, joints, and the pelvic floor, influencing both physical and emotional wellbeing. The speakers highlighted nutrition, resistance training, adequate protein, Vitamin D, and gut health as key to managing symptoms and maintaining bone and cardiovascular health.
The evening encouraged open conversations about menopause at home and in workplaces, promoting community support, self-awareness, and movement as vital tools for navigating this life stage.

evening talk series 2.0: Are we really what we eat?
Tuesday 21 September 2025
Manly42 hosted its second Evening Talk, Are We Really What We Eat?, at Ruby Lane Wholefoods in Manly. The event brought together an inspiring local panel — Sammy, Phil, Laura, and Angela — to explore nutrition, wellness, and the mind-body connection.
Sammy shared Tao-inspired principles for natural healing, such as using kuzu root for lung health, ginger for circulation, and oshiplums for throat support and grounding. Phil discussed how his gut health challenges led him to self-awareness and the founding of Ruby Lane to share nourishing food with the community. Laura emphasised everyday nutrition tips: eat fermented foods, combine protein with vitamin C for better absorption, and include healthy fats like avocado, oils, and nuts. Angela spoke about homeopathy and emotional mindfulness, encouraging awareness of how feelings influence eating habits.
The evening closed with gratitude for the panel’s wisdom and practical insights on holistic wellbeing.

the future of human connection
Evening Talk Series 1.0: The Future of Human Connection
On Tuesday 5 August 2025, Manly42 launched its first Evening Talk, The Future of Human Connection, at Henry G’s Wine Parlour in central Manly. The sold-out event drew over 50 guests to an evening of warmth and lively discussion featuring philosopher April Lewis, psychotherapist Hannah Maude, women’s empowerment coach Tony Moran, and AI transformation consultant Rachel Smith.
The conversation explored how technology and artificial intelligence are reshaping relationships and self-awareness. Key themes included philosophy’s role in preserving meaning amid automation, psychotherapy’s reminder that genuine connection comes through presence and touch, and the empowerment that comes from engaging with technology consciously. Speakers also reflected on AI as both a mirror and mediator of human values.
A spirited Q&A invited reflections on ethics, intimacy, and the evolving nature of relationships. Guests lingered over wine and shared plates — a fitting finale celebrating authentic human connection.
