The Business of Being Human

The Business of Being Human is a concept created by Anastasia Grace, active on the ground in Manly.

Anastasia interviews local people that shape the cultural landscape and economy such as Power Living, Craft & Soul, Manly Food Co-op, artist Ralph Kerle in his art gallery, Netflix chef Nikki Tran and the Mulatto Coffee truck at Queenscliff Lagoon, with more conversations in the pipeline.

Each interview illuminates the person behind the business - their values, journey, doubts, hopes and connection to place. These are lived accounts that reveal how small businesses are important threads of the fabric holding communities together.

BOBH is growing as a living archive of Manly’s economy consisting of stories that remind us that community is crafted by people and their contributions to it.

At the heart of community is listening. When we take people seriously enough to hear their stories, we create connection, trust, and a sense of belonging.”
